The Story Behind Salsabil Art
Assalamu Alaikum & Welcome
I am Saba Soneji—an artist, designer, homeschooling mother, and community organizer. After taking a meaningful hiatus to focus on my family, I founded Salsabil Art to serve as a refreshing spring for our community—a space where sacred tradition, purposeful education, and holistic living flow together.
My journey has always been guided by a deep love for beauty, order, and connection. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Interior Design from Georgia State University, which grounded my understanding of how physical environments shape our inner well-being. Over the years, I have served as an Art Director and Head of the Art Department, designing K-12 project-based learning (S.T.E.A.M.) curriculums and coordinating vibrant community festivals and interfaith events.
A Journey Through Tradition and Wellness
My creative and personal outlook was profoundly transformed by two major chapters in my life:
- Sacred Arts: I traveled to Spain and Morocco to immerse myself in the study of traditional Islamic geometry and architecture. Witnessing how structural precision translates into spiritual devotion completely redefined how I view and teach art.
- Prophetic Medicine: Seeking a deeper connection to holistic wellness, I studied prophetic medicine under Hakim Salim from the UK. This opened my eyes to the profound wisdom of living naturally, wholesome cooking, and caring for the mind, body, and spirit in accordance with the Sunnah.
My Philosophy: Faith, Nature, and Hands-On Growth
As a homeschooling mom, I know firsthand the challenges of raising children in a fast-paced, digitally dominated world. I watched screens begin to replace real-world curiosity, and I knew our families needed a sanctuary.
Everything I build through Salsabil Art is rooted firmly in the Quran and Sunnah. I believe that by returning to the earth and creating with our own two hands, we reconnect with Allah’s creation and our own heritage.
To bring this vision to life, my classes and methods intentionally incorporate the Montessori learning style. I focus on:
- Process Over Product: Giving children the independence and tactile tools—from pottery and weaving to painting and calligraphy—to build deep concentration and fine motor skills.
- Screen-Free Purpose: Swapping digital entertainment for meaningful, real-world experiences.
- Nurturing the Home & Community: Hosting intentional networking events and art socials to foster true sisterhood among women, and helping families design calm, organic, and inspiring spaces to live and learn.
Salsabil Art is my invitation to you and your family to step away from the rush, dive into the beauty of traditional art, and cultivate a wholesome, faith-centered lifestyle together.
